The Jackson Ratio will let you know if your tortoise is a good weight for his size. A ratio under .16 indicates an underweight tortoise. A ratio of .21 is ideal. A ratio above .23 indicates a heavy tortoise. Be aware that this ratio only applies to Hermanns and to Mediterranean Spur Thigh tortoises.
